A police department in Lancaster County is reminding drivers to obey Pennsylvania's School Bus Stopping Law.
Pequea Township police posted another driver's dashcam video that shows a car swerving around him and continuing past a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm activated.
"Don't be this driver. This is not OK," the department said in the Facebook post.
Police said the driver has been identified and is facing multiple traffic citations. He also confessed to passing a school bus in Conestoga Township, according to police.
"So close to tragedy all because the driver was running late for school. So please get up earlier, leave earlier or do whatever necessary so that you can slow down, pay attention and drive safely on our roadways. We're talking about kids' lives out here," police said.
Under state law:
If you are convicted of violating the law, you will receive these penalties:
These penalties apply for citations issued by law enforcement.
If you are issued a violation for passing a school bus with a side stop signal arm enforcement system, you'll receive a $300 fine if found liable.
